Express Entry - How to Increase your Chances of Getting Invited to Apply for Permanent Residence

If you are a professional in your country of origin or country of residence, with a post-secondary degree/diploma/ or certificate and you have at least three or more years of work experience in your field, you might be eligible to apply under the Express Entry program - Skilled Worker Stream. If you are not familiar with how the Canadian Express Entry Program works, you can check out the following link: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/works.html

The Canadian government tries to attract highly skilled workers from across the globe and if you meet certain requirements, they invite you to apply for permanent residence in Canada. If you meet the minimum eligibility requirements, you can qualify to join the Express Entry pool. From the pool, candidates are chosen, and those chosen are invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada. The invitation is given to candidates with the highest scores in the pool. As of this writing, the lowest cut-off score of a candidate that was invited was 472 points. You can check your current score by using the CRS tool. Follow this link: https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp

After checking your score by using the CRS tool and if you feel that your score is too low, there are ways to increase your score. You can improve on your English test (IELTS or any language test accredited by the Canadian government) is one thing. However, you can also increase your score by obtaining a Canadian Education and Canadian work experience. In order for you to do this, you can apply for a study permit and Canada for at least a year after graduation. While working in Canada, you can also find an employer that is willing to give you a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) backed job offer.

With higher scores under the Comprehensive Ranking System, you also increase your chances of getting invited to apply for permanent residence in Canada. If you want additional information or further clarification, you can email me at ibanezlaw@bell.net.

There are also specialized job experiences that have higher chances of getting invited to apply under the Express Entry Program. I am specifically talking about the Skilled Trades stream. Candidates who have experience working in the following field have a higher chance of getting invited to apply as permanent residents in Canada:

Skilled trades for the Federal Skilled Trades Program are organized under these groups of the National Occupational Classification (NOC):

Major Group 72, industrial, electrical and construction trades

Major Group 73, maintenance and equipment operation trades

Major Group 82, supervisors and technical jobs in natural resources, agriculture and related production

Major Group 92, processing, manufacturing and utilities supervisors and central control operators

Minor Group 632, chefs and cooks

Minor Group 633, butchers and bakers

If you are in skilled trades, I can definitely assist you.
